Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a Fiduciary and what does that mean?

Yes, we are.

A fiduciary is a professional entrusted to manage assets or wealth while putting the client's best interests first at all times. As a fiduciary, we must disclose any conflict, or potential conflict, to our clients before and during the advisory agreement. We also adopt a code of ethics and fully disclose how we are compensated.

Are you fee only?

Yes, we are.

As a fee only registered investment advisor, we are directly compensated by clients for financial planning advice and asset management. We don’t sell products for a commission or accept any commissions for our work.

What are your qualifications and certifications?

I’ve been licensed in the financial services industry since 1998. I currently hold 3 designations: CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA©).

The CFP® designation is the standard of excellence for financial planners. As a CFP® you must meet extensive training, experience and continuing education requirements. You must also commit to the CFP Board’s ethical standards that require us to act as a fiduciary at all times and put clients’ interests first.

The CKA® designation is granted by Kingdom Advisors® to financial professionals have undergone extensive training on how to incorporate biblical principles into their financial advice. As a Christian myself, the prior and ongoing training is meaningful and important to me.

The CEPA© designation is granted by the Exit Planning Institute to advisors who have completed their intensive training on working with owners of privately held companies. As a CEPA© we seek to help identify, protect, build, harvest and manage wealth to assist business owners and their families on their journey through business ownership.

How much do you charge for an initial consultation where I can learn more about your services and process?

Initial consultations are free of charge. They’re an opportunity for you to share some of your questions and concerns. We’ll also discuss our services, process, and fees.

How much in assets do I need to work with you?

We don’t have any asset minimums. If we both determine that we’re the right fit for each other then you would just need to cover the financial planning fees to enter an engagement with us.

How do you get paid?

There are two ways that we get paid: financial planning fees and asset management fees. Financial planning fees are paid to us directly by the client at a frequency that we agree on. Asset management fees are directly debited from the investment accounts that we manage on behalf of the client. These fees are usually debited on a monthly or quarterly basis.

How often would I meet with you?

In the first year, we typically meet between six to eight times as we’re creating your customized financial plan.

In the second year and beyond, we generally meet 2-4 times. •Virtual meetings and phone calls work best for most of my clients but I’m happy to meet local clients in person.

What if I live in a different state?

We have clients from California to New York and many states in between so we can certainly serve clients in different states. Connect with us and let’s begin a conversation.
